So go on, save yourself some money and buy something else that goes for 1/5 the price of this. If you have a digital cable box, you'll know what I'm talking about: one second the picture is there, the next it's not; no static, no fuzz, no nothing. If the signal gets degraded, there simply won't be any picture. Anyone that says otherwise has simply succumbed to the placebo effect. $30 for this thing. You've got to be kidding me.DVI and HDMI are digital technologies, not analog, which means that they either work or they don't. just gone. The same thing applies here: if you get a picture, that's as good a picture as you're going to get from any other cable/adapter; if it was degraded, you wouldn't get any picture at all.
There are others that are cheaper, but Im not quite sure about the quality. It took me a while to find the correct pixelation display on my laptop though. The image quality was great with the HDMI cables that I had. Im not sure it is worth the price thought. I bought this item to plug into my computer and watch movies on my new 40in. samsung lcd. Besides that this is a great product.
I'm a firm believer that good quality cables (not necessarily an expensive one) do make a difference. I switched to this adapter and paired it with a Monster 300 HDMI cable and saw a significant difference. I had bought a Cables Unlimited DVI to HDMI cable due to its excellent review but was not satisfied with the image quality. I would see noise in the background on HD channels. The picture was lot more vibrant and no noise in the picture.
Nontheless the difference with other adapters is almost not existent (Tested with a GrandWega, 50"). But if it is pricey for you try an alternative, it wont affect the image at all. It works excellent for what it is for. If you have the money, go ahead with this, you cannot be wrong.
Maybe I will notice an improvement in picture in the future, but as of right now, I do not think I would purchase this item if I had to do it all over again. This adapter works fine so far, but there is no difference in picture quality between this and the component cables I was using previously. I start by saying I made a careless mistake. I was looking for a DVI to HDMI cable and ended up buying this on accident. I do not know if it is worth the price premium.
